The Angelus 2009, aptly described as "LE BAROQUE," embodies a symphony of opulence and refinement. Adorned in a bright ink black hue, this vintage reflects the perfection of ripeness achieved amidst favorable weather conditions. Upon exploration of the nose, the wine's personality unfolds, captivating with the pure and vibrant aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and blackberries. These fruit notes are refreshingly fresh, avoiding any sense of jamminess. On the palate, a masterful balance is revealed. The wine's concentration and substance are gracefully carried by a supple richness, with silky tannins creating an embrace of velvet smoothness. The Angelus 2009 unveils its power and concentration, all while exuding a remarkable subtlety that captivates the discerning palate. As the tasting journey reaches its conclusion, the wine's enduring presence lingers, leaving an indelible mark that speaks to its artful fusion of baroque opulence and elegant restraint.
Robert Parker - 99 Points
"Blended of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet colored 2009 Angélus sings of blackberry preserves, warm black cherries, stewed plums and dried herbs with hints of Chinese five spice, fragrant earth, truffles and new leather. Full, rich, spicy and decadent in the mouth, it has a plush, velvety texture and well-knit freshness, finishing very long with tons of spicy layers."
Antonio Galloni - 96 Points
"The 2009 Angélus has a very refined bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, quite lavish in style with hints of crushed violet developing in the glass. You cannot help but be taken by the purity of this Angélus. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and supple tannin, well judged acidity, beautifully balanced with supremely well integrated oak towards the finish. This is a wonderful Angélus that should give another two or three decades of drinking pleasure. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits' Ten Year On tasting."
