Château Angelus 2019 is a remarkable vintage with a brilliant, intense, and almost dark purple color. Its great aromatic purity is exceptional, revealing prominent black fruit and wild cherry notes, while the oak is fully integrated. On the palate, the wine is smooth and suave, with round and enveloping tannins that feel like cashmere, leading to a long finish with notes of spice and menthol. Thanks to the high-quality Cabernet Franc grapes, the wine displays a lovely freshness and tension, perfectly reflecting the precision and elegance of the Angélus terroir. This vintage offers immediate tasting appeal and is undoubtedly one of the great Angélus wines.
Robert Parker - 96 Points
"The 2019 Angélus bursts from the glass with a rich, dramatic nose of cherries, licorice, sweet spices and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, layered and vibrant, its broad and velvety attack segues into a layered, concentrated mid-palate that's underpinned by tangy acids and fine, powdery tannins, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. It's a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. Its seamless, pure profile reflects the subtle shift chez Angélus away from the rich, toasty style of the 1990s and 2000s toward greater elegance and precision."
Antonio Galloni - 97 Points
"The 2018 Angélus is striking. Cabernet Franc aromatics make a strong first impression. Vibrant and delineated, the 2018 is incredibly refined in every way. The move towards a bit less extraction really seems to let the purity of the fruit come through. The same is true of a reduction of oak. All the elements come together so effortlessly. The 2018 has all the richness readers expect of Angélus, with much more finesse and more overall vibrancy, a combination that works so well."
