Details

Comte Liger-Belair's 2015 La Romanee is a wine of exceptional pedigree and distinction. It displays a deep, garnet-red color that hints at its concentration and maturity. The nose is incredibly complex, offering an array of aromas including ripe dark berries, such as black cherry and blackberry, intertwined with floral notes of violet and rose, along with hints of spice, earth, and forest floor. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and opulent, with velvety tannins that provide structure and support to the rich fruit flavors. Layers of flavors unfold on the palate, revealing nuances of black currant, plum, licorice, and cedar, all framed by a backbone of vibrant acidity. The finish is long, lingering, and impeccably balanced, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and finesse. Overall, Comte Liger-Belair's 2015 La Romanee is a masterpiece of Pinot Noir and a true expression of the terroir of this legendary vineyard.

Robert Parker - 100 Points

"Tasted blind, Louis-Michel Liger-Belair's 2015 La Romanée Grand Cru is simply extraordinary, dominating a flight of great grands crus. The wine wafts from the glass with an extraordinarily complex bouquet in which notes of cherries, cassis and orange rind mingle with fragrant aromas of rose petal and Asian spices, complemented by deeper, more savory bass notes of grilled squab, espresso roast and smoked duck. On the palate, it's full-bodied, multidimensional and complete, with amazing depth and dimension, juicy acids balancing a deep and concentrated core of fruit, and concluding with a long, reverberative finish. This is a powerful, even dramatic La Romanée that ranks as one of the pinnacles of this magical vintage."

Antonio Galloni - 98 Points

"The 2015 La Romanée Grand Cru is a much more introverted wine than the Domaine A.F. Gros Richebourg Grand Cru, less detailed and complex, yet still captivating with its brambly black fruit, graphite and minerals, the latter becoming increasingly expressive with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin. This is beautifully balanced and supple in the mouth, displaying beguiling harmony and a persistent, utterly seductive finish. It could only be La Romanée. Sublime. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting."
