Details
Château Croix de Labrie's 2020 vintage showcases the essence of its exceptional terroirs in Saint-Emilion. The vineyards, strategically located at Badon, below the Pavie hillside, and on the heights of Saint-Christophe des Bardes, contribute to the wine's unique character. Badon's sandy and clay soils with traces of iron oxide, coupled with a clayey limestone subsoil, bring elegance and excellent drainage to the wine. In Saint Christophe-des-Bardes, the asteriated clayey limestone soil adds complexity and density. The result is a distinctive and unique wine, rich, dense, and intensely fruity from perfectly ripe grapes. The wine boasts a deep, elegant, and subtly nuanced robe. In its youth, it reveals freshness, size, and impeccable balance. With a potential for extended aging, this vintage promises to evolve gracefully over more than 15 years.
Robert Parker - (93-95) Points
"Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Croix de Labrie wafts out of the glass with flamboyant notions of sandalwood, red roses, ground cloves and cedar chest, giving way to a core of stewed black plums, Morello cherries and boysenberries, plus a waft of bouquet garni. The medium to full-bodied palate has a rock-solid backbone of firm, ripe, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, nicely framing the muscular black fruits, finishing long and spicy."
Antonio Galloni - 92 Points
"The 2020 Croix de Labrie has a highly perfumed, overly floral bouquet with crushed violet and iris infusing the dark cherry fruit. It manages to retain admirable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied orange peel-tinged opening, harmonious, fine tannins and a fresh, cohesive finish. This is one of the best wines from Axelle and Pierre Courdurié in recent years."
