Details

Chateau Haut-Brion 2016 The wine displays a bright red color with highlights of garnet-red and purple. The nose is highly expressive and intricate with a blend of red and black fruits, violets, and a remarkable impression of freshness. On the palate, the wine is initially full-bodied and juicy, then evolves with incredible refinement, exhibiting rich tannins and ample volume without any hint of aggressiveness. Although broad-based and thick, it is not heavy or overdone. The wine is perfectly balanced and flawless, offering an exceptional taste experience. Chateau Haut-Brion 2016 is undoubtedly one of the most exceptional successes of the estate.

Robert Parker - 100 Points

"The 2016 Haut-Brion is blended of 56% Merlot, 37.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6.5% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is at once profound and arresting, offering drop-dead gorgeous Morello cherries, lilacs and red rose scents with a core of Black Forest cake, warm blackcurrants and blueberry preserves plus wafts of sandalwood and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the elegantly crafted palate is completely packed with intense floral, mineral and cassis-laced flavors with a firm frame of very finely pixelated tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and achingly stunning."

Antonio Galloni - 96+ Points

"The 2016 Haut-Brion has a precise, focused bouquet of blackberry, briar, pressed flowers and supremely well-integrated oak; there is real panache here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, pinpoint acidity and a little grittiness to the texture. Quite spicy, revealing white pepper and cedar toward a finish that just tapers in slightly, probably because this is beginning to close down. I have had better bottles in the past. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting. "
