Details

The 2014 Realm The Absurd is a pinnacle expression, carefully crafted from an 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot blend. This exceptional wine, described by winemaker Benoit Touquette as the "crème de la crème," mirrors the perfection of its remarkable 2013 counterpart. While slightly more forward and showy than the 2013, which is gradually entering a more reserved phase, The Absurd captivates with an opaque purple hue and an extraordinary nose featuring spring flowers, blueberry, blackberry, creosote, charcoal, toast, and spice. This majestic wine unfolds with an unbelievable fruit presence on the attack, midpalate, and finish, delivering compelling purity, texture, and a finish that lingers for close to a full minute. True to its essence, The Absurd stands as a showcase of the best of Napa Valley, characterized by freedom of expression and an absence of constraints.

Robert Parker - 100 Points

"A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, is the 2014 The Absurd, basically a choice of their finest barrels, or as winemaker and owner Benoit Touquette says, “The crème de la crème.” This is another perfect wine equaling their incredible 2013. Yet the 2014 is slightly more forward and showy, as many 2013s are just beginning to shut down. There are 250 cases of this majestic wine that has an opaque purple color, extraordinary nose of spring flowers, blueberry, blackberry, creosote, charcoal, toast and spice. The wine has unbelievable fruit on the attack, midpalate and finish, compelling purity, texture and a finish of close to a full minute. It is (as advertised by the winery) a “showcase of the best of Napa Valley with the freedom of expression that results from no rules.” "

Antonio Galloni - 96 Points

"The 2014 The Absurd is a bit less showy than the 2012 or 2013, but it has tremendous energy and all of the vibrancy that is so typical of the best wines in this vintage. Black cherry jam, licorice, sweet spice, leather, smoke, bittersweet chocolate and a kiss of French oak build as this beautifully layered Cabernet Sauvignon shows off its alluring personality."
